GIG//3D LOGO ANIMATION

I have been working freelance lazily for years. Now that I am out of school, I find that I am taking more projects that I haven’t considered before. Like this one. I was contacted to make a 3D animated logo for a BC company. I took it out of excitement to be able to flex my 3D muscle, and a great opportunity to fill-in my portfolio.
When approached, I was presented with a logo that the client was already pleased with. I couldn’t find anything wrong with it and was actually impressed with it’s design. Let me tell you, having a good starting point speeds up the process immensely. The client wanted to have a logo animation that was simple, elegant, and clean. They didn’t want anything too complicated, or busy as they wanted to underscore the minimal impact their mining technology had on the environment, and the surroundings of the mining sites.
The Missing Key

I couldn’t sleep last night. I couldn’t stop thinking about the notion of an inexhaustable well of creativity that all of us humans are born with, but that a lot of us let run dry out of neglect or indifference. Maybe it’s that they don’t run dry, so much as someone else in need of some “creativity juice” drills on an angle to access some more. they put their straw on an angle an “DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE!!!” hahaha. I’ve been waiting to insert that SOMEWHERE. Good stuff.
Anyway, I was browsing around for good movies that are coming out, and I came across this one by the same director that did Hello. It looks absolutely charming. It’s called “The Missing Key” and it follows a young, aspiring pianist who just happens to have a gramophone for a head. (see: freaking awesome concept)

Yates Holley – 2009 Demo Reel

Happy Monday! Whew. made it through the weekend!
Yates Holley has been doing work for Fuel TV off and on for a while. He has also done pieces for nascar (great piece, shitty client), and Jameson Irish Whiskey. He is a fantastic animator, and really, really good with 3D. His 2008 demo reel was good, and this 2009 one is great, and a bit more diverse.
Check YHOLLEY out.
