JAI :: SCARED-STUPID(ER) EDITION WITH KUNG-FU GRIP

Saturday night I went out with some old classmates Christian and Dewi for a night of early scare-tactics. We headed over to the Dunbar Haunted House, but were late arriving and the line up was just too long to serve our plans. I’ll go back this week later with some other peeps and get scared proper. Anyway, we got back in the car and flew over to PlayLand for Fright Nights. Let me tell you… it was so fucking cold that at one point my eyes were watering as we flew around on the Coaster, when I slowed, I broke a piece of ice off my cheek. Yes.. the tear from my eye had become ice as it streaked across my face. I swear it was -2 or -3 out. Christian, being a trooper, was there in a sweater. He must have been frozen to the bone.
I was pretty impressed with the whole production… well.. most of the production.

Final Project Update

Well, I had a meeting with Sebastien almost a week ago, and I am pleased with how it went. It could always have gone better, but there is nothing I can do about the past. The last week was a crazy one, hence my lack of posting.
Sorry about that, everyone.
I have been working on to code for so long, that it was nice to take a break and work on the visuals for the project. I finished 3 of the 4 levels, and I have been doing some concept sketches for the fourth. I thought I would have some serious help for the code, but it seems that there was a mis-communication, and now I am right back where I started. Oh well, I got a bit of advice, and I have yet to exhaust all my resources. 5 weeks left and I am determined to make this thing work.
Now, off to go and code some zones and do some freaky Flash math.

New 3D work
I have been working on getting my 3D skills up to par. Taking an Advanced 3D course has added to my skill set, but with my freakin’ hectic schedule, I haven’t had much time to really explore all the things I want to do with it. I feel like as soon as this final is done, I can fully explore all the techniques I learned.

Well, here is a still frame from the project I am working on.
It’s a 12 second logo animation for The Stickypod Connection & it’s going really well.
More updates as events warrant.

New 3D motion piece & Final Project
Here is a new offering from my 3D work. It was a simple 1.5 hour exercise where I took a flat HDRI, and made it in to a 3D space. Nothing too fancy. I just wanted to post it.
In other news, this is now being declared as “International Jai gets shit done week”. I have kinda dropped the ball on my final project & allowed myself to hit a bit of a wall. No big deal, I’ll get over it very soon. My advisor, Wil Arndt, had some fantastic advice which was to get back to my origins on this project, and figure out what is making me passionate about it.
I have a meeting with my Program Director, Sebastien, at noon. Hopefully he can give me some insight as well.
Enjoy your day!
