BRB

Ok it’s Friday, it’s been a long-ass week so let me begin by saying, I can play guitar. I took lessons, and while I haven’t retained enough knowledge to fill 16 bars, I can play when there’s a gun to my head, or a beautiful woman in the room in need of some serenading. So, by default I’m not one of those button-mashing, guitar hero cop-outs that brag about completing DragonForce’s “Through the fire and the flames” on expert with a bored look on their faces, and duct tape holding their thumbs against their palms(there is a reason that song is so freakin’ hard). I think the people that really need an applause, are kids like this, and like this (as well as their supportive parents). Those are the kids that deserve a million views on YouTube. Just like the original Fab Four, practicing real instruments gives you the skills to apply to other mediums, other compositions, and the discipline to excel in other areas of your life. If you liked Helvetica….

Coming to you from Gagry Hustwit, the gentleman who brought us Helvetica, is a film concerned with industrial design. Objectified take s a second to interview many designers, consumers, and students od design to gain a new view in to “things” and what they are really saying. As a society, we seldom give thought to who designs the things we use on a daily basis, what value that gives them, how they empower us, and what effect all this has on our psyche, reactions, and relations to the world around us.
I’m really excited to see this film. Really REALLY excited.

Tip to Brian Sabbeth for the heads-up. Check out his blog for some interesting flash work. I think he’s briding out in to Augmented Reality so keep an eye out for his upcoming projects.
